I think the idea was that models were supposed to fill it up with our job dates so that we would attend our bookings in a Timely and Professional Manner.

Mine of course remained entirely blank, save for a page of sticker photos taken in these funny little booths that I have never seen outside of Japan.

if you guessed, the girl looks like she’s looking for an escape hatch, you’re totally right. 

if there was a thought bubble over my head, it would say, “if i look at the floor then i don’t have to look either of these dudes in the eyes.  perfect”

beneath that smile, pure terror.

no surprise i never did get too many gorgeous male model boyfriends like i thought i would.  or like, any.

i came this to getting a baton-induced concussion!

and what’s up with japanese police men looking all british?

hope i didn’t give the impression that i’m not a lover of japanese food.  because when it comes to 7-Eleven lunches, there ain’t nothing like these little rice seaweed triangles. 

they’re like kinder surprises, but with pickled plums and salmon instead of plastic toys hidden inside. 

plus, they’re not made of chocolate.

this is dicky. 

 i don’t know why he gave me a signed polaroid of himself at the end of the shoot, but he did. 

he was our stylist (which means he was in charge of the clothes and shoes and stuff like that)–and was dressed entirely in a Jean Paul Gaultier track suit-thing which somehow matched his bright red devil hair (pictured below) perfectly.

he also liked to jump around the studio whenever there photographer started with the flash.  trippy dude.

is it me or does it seem weird to you, too that by the time i was seventeen (according to my portfolio) i was married…

and pregnant…

and had become an old lady.

because seriously, would you and your friends ever wear matching outfits and think that’s cool?  i don’t know why japanese photographers are so into this.

i think these are sacred statutes of some kind, but they were so cute i couldn’t resist snapping a shot.  hopefully, i won’t be cursed or eternally damned or anything.

the other downside of living in tokyo (as compared to suburbia, land of vast parking lots and empty sidewalks)–there’s lots and lots of people.

i totally would have maybe considered buying some of those if i

a) had any idea of what they were and

b) wasn’t too chicken to ask.

sometimes living in a country where you can’t read, write or understand the language in any form other than picto-graph can be kind of a drag.
